What is GA4?
These are the web analytics services that provide basic and static analytical tools for SEO and other marketing purposes. This is the service of the Google marketing platform used to track website performance and visitor insights. This mostly focuses on improving marketing campaigns and driving cross-device website traffic.
Recently in October 2020, Google introduced GA 4 to keep up with cross device measurement capabilities and is considered as the renamed version of the beta form of the app plus web property.
GA4 configuration and setup steps for beginners:
To configure the GA4 setup, you need to have access to a Google Analytics account, for the admin approach and Google Tag Manager for publishing permission.
Step 1 – Generate a Google analytic account
For the creation, type Google analytics in the search place – click on the Stat measuring button – add the name of your organization and tap on the next
Step 2 – Add your website name in the place of the property name and adjust the time zone and currency. Select the show advanced option and add your website’s URL to the first box and tick mark the “create both a Google analytics 4 and a universal analytic property” and “Enable enhanced measurement for Google.”
Step 3 – Select your business size and pick the boxes present below describing intent on using GA business. Now click on the create button to go to terms and agreement page.
Step 4 – In the Google Analytics Terms of Service Agreement page select your country and fill the check box to accept the terms and conditions. Also fill the below present check box to accept the data protection term. Then pick the “I Accept” option.
Step 5 – Now you have just created your account. A pop up box with several types of email communication will appear on your screen. Select the one you want and hit the save button.
GA 4 configuration and setup steps for people with a Google Analytics account:
These below steps are designed to give you smooth access for the updating and configuring procedure of Google Analytic 4.
Step 1 – Login into your Google Analytic Account. It will lead you to the home page or regular home screen of analytics. If you have multiple accounts, pick the one you want to use.
Step 2 – Click on the bottom left admin setting option. In the middle column under the property an option named “GA4 Setup Assistant” will appear and click on it right there. A new window will appear and tap on the “Get started” menu.
Step 3 – Again a brand new page will open. Click on the “create property.” Select it to see your GA4 property. Here you will be able to connect with Universal Analytics to GA4.
Step 4 – Click on the blue button named as “Open connected property.” A confirmed written format of connection completion will appear on your screen.
After the connection is done, you will be taken back to the GA 4 setup assistant to set up your GA4 property, as it is needed to switch from Universal Analytics property.
GA 4 Property Setup:
- Go over the vertical menu present right under the property and click down the arrow.
- Pick the property which does not have Universal Analytics attached to it.
- Head over to the data setting and find the data collection.
- Tap on the start option.
- In the Google signal page, click on the “Continue” button and then tap the “Activate” option to activate the signals.
- Activate the toggle and go to “use data collection acknowledgment.”
- Select acknowledgment and wait for the acknowledged sign.
- Now go back to GA4 Property data collection and click on “data retention.”
- Change it from two months to fourteen months and click on save.
